Best Times for Restaurants to Post on Instagram

Sprout Social, a social media management platform, analyzed their customers’ data to determine what days and times their Instagram posts resulted in the most engagement. Here’s what they found.

When is the best time to post on Instagram?

On average, for all industries, the very best time to post on Instagram to generate the most engagement is Tuesday between 11:00 am – 2:00 pm CDT. The next best time to post on Instagram is in the same hours on any other weekday.

When should restaurants post on Instagram?

The ideal time for the most consistent engagement is on Mondays between 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM local time. The worst day for restaurants to post on Instagram is Saturday. By posting on Monday, more followers will see the post throughout the week before making their weekend plans. It also allows time for followers to share your post.

Keep in mind that these are generalizations and don’t apply evenly across all restaurants all of the time.

For instance, some restaurants have seen success by posting one-day-only deals or specials in the morning of their slowest day. By posting consistently, followers looking for bargains will know when to return to your Instagram feed.

To determine the best time to post on Instagram for your restaurant, you should be monitoring the results of each of your posts to determine which messages work best on which days and times.
